Self Storage Association (SSA)

The Self Storage Association (SSA) is the official not-for-profit trade association that represents the self storage industry comprising of more than 52,000 storage facilities and the registered lobbying organization before the United States Congress and the federal agencies. It also publishes its monthly magazine- SSA Globe magazine having a monthly circulation of approximately 17,000. The association is managed by an elected national Board of Directors consisting of twelve leading owner-operators, vendors and property managers.

Federation of European Self Storage Associations (FEDESSA)

FEDESSA is the European Trade Association, formed in March 2004, represents over 1050 self storage facilities that make up over 70% of the self storage facilities in Europe. Any European National Self Storage Association (one per nation) can be a member of FEDESSA. The present membership of FEDESSA includes the national associations of Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, Czech Republic and the United Kingdom. The association is also in close contact with self storage operators or potential operators in Austria, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Russia.

Self-Storage Association United Kingdom (SSA UK)

Self Storage Association (SSA UK) is the trade association that represents the majority of self storage operators and facilities in the UK. The association aims at helping consumers and businesses locate self storage facilities most local or convenient to them and at promoting best practices in the self storage industry of UK. It also works for raising awareness about the benefits of self storage facilities, holds an annual conference and members' meetings to share best practice as well as support the continued growth of the industry. The SSA UK is governed by experienced non executive directors from member organizations and has close affiliations with the Federation of European Self Storage Associations (FEDESSA).

Self Storage Association of Australasia (SSAA)

Self Storage Association of Australasia represents over 1,100 self storage facilities across Australia, New Zealand and Asia that is approximately 92% of the self storage space in the region. Its members provide self storage and warehousing for personal as well as business use in the form of household storage, business storage and wine storage among others. SSAA is in the process of establishing complaints handling functions and Code of Practice.

Canadian Self Storage Association (CSSA)

The Canadian Self-Storage Association is an "affiliate" member of the United States based Self Storage Association (SSA). With the growing self storage association, the SSA was first divided into nine regions, the ninth region being Canada. The Self-Service Storage Association of Canada was meant to operate as the ninth SSA region. Thereafter, while streamlining with the demands of the industry, the North America was again reorganized into three regions: Western, Central, and Eastern, negating the need for the Self-Service Storage Association of Canada. However, with increasing demand from various individual states for more local representation, the SSA assumed the role of a "national association" responding to global issues, and started providing guidance, education and leadership to State "affiliate" associations, one of which is the CSSA.
