Plan a Move
Plan a Move
24 April 2010- There are two main situations when you plan a move. Either you have been transferred by your employer to other place or you yourself want to move to other city or even to other country for better opportunities. In any case, you must plan moving and make schedule for your move if you want this to be a pleasant experience (you must plan moving if you don't want your and your family's life in a mess). Here we give some tips to help you plan moving and some pointers to think upon for a smooth move to your new destination.

Plan for Moving in Favorable Weather

Rainy season or winters are not for smooth moving plans. You have to take extra care to protect your household goods on move when its raining. In winters, overnight goods moving in a truck may get damaged due to freezing conditions. If you are moving from one place to another with different climates at the same time, expensive or antique furniture might get cracks due to severe and quick climate changes. Summer is the best season to plan a move. Your move is not affected by the weather conditions much and also it is a good time as far as school calender of your children is considered. Just remember that moving companies hike their charges in summer months as it is the peak season for moving. However, if you plan moving pretty earlier, you can book services of movers well in reasonable prices beforehand.

Plan for Moving in Low Budget

If you are for budget moving, then it becomes all the more essential for you to plan a move. You can choose the starting or the closing days of the summer peak season for moving when other people are just thinking about their move. Book a moving company beforehand to get advantage on moving charges. If you can't do that due to one or the other reason, plan moving during week days. Most of the people prefer to move in the weekends due to their profession related reasons. This makes moving companies charge higher on weekends but as their resources are free during the week, they can give discounts as well. You just have to take leave from office for a couple of days if planning to move during week days but you can save on moving cost.

Plan for Moving in Sync with School Calender

This is also why summer is preferred for moving. Your children have completed their present grade and are free from studies for a while. Plan moving during summer vacation of your children and you won't have them complaining about loss in studies. Also, they will get enough time to settle down at the new place and make friends during the vacations. Most of the schools admit new students during this time of year so you won't have to worry about school admissions of your children too.

Avoid Plan for Moving during Holidays/ Festival Season

Holidays and festive season are not good for moving. First of all, during major festivals, most of the organizations declare holidays. It is a real problem to find a good moving company during holidays. Secondly, if also you undertake self moving and plan to shift to your new home during holidays, you won't get enough time to mix up with the community over there. This will emotionally affect your family, especially children, who won't be able to enjoy holidays properly.

Planning a move also requires proper scheduling of your essential works to be done before moving. Consider the Moving and Packing Checklist for proper scheduling of your moving plans.
