If you are packing to move, you must be bothered about how to pack fragile items? Packing delicate items for moving really needs a lot of efforts, time and sometimes special packing supplies. Preparation for Packing Delicate Items
Delicate or fragile items are of different kinds. So, you have to prepare for packing all these fragile items differently. For this, you have to separate the fragile items like those which are breakable- china ware, stemware, glasses, collectible figurines etc. Now you have to collect and, if necessary, buy packing supplies that are helpful in proper packing of delicate items such as bubble wrap, sturdy plastic bins (cardboard boxes used for packing fragile items might prove risky), packing peanuts, newspaper, butter paper, soft cloths etc. If you buy specialized moving boxes manufactured for packing delicate items (like corrugated boxes having multiple partitions for packing glass items), just ensure it has proper indicators in the form of text like "Handle with Care" or arrows indicating "This Side Up." This ensures that the people from moving companies handle your fragile items properly while loading and unloading them for shipping.
Packing Delicate Items- Some Tips
Here are some packing tips for your fragile items like chinaware and crystalline figurines etc.
-
For your fragile items like heavy china ware, the traditional cardboard box might prove fatal. The bottom of such boxes can fall out making your valuable dinnerware go down with a bang. For such heavy chinaware, use a storage box having handles to make it easier to carry.
-
For packing glasses, stemware, valuable mugs etc. stuff them with paper or cloth and then wrap them with bubble wrap or newspaper before carefully placing them inside the moving boxes. Avoid packing smaller saucers on top of larger plates to avoid any damage.
-
Sometimes, newspaper might leave ink marks on you expensive china. For tackling this problem, invest some money on buying brown paper and use them instead newspapers for packing fragile items.
-
Before placing your delicate items into the boxes, place some shredded paper or heap up paper stripes at the bottom of the box (level them) to make a cushion against any bumps.
-
Use packing peanuts to fill up the gaps between the fragile items into the box so that they do not hit each other and break in the process.
-
Your more delicate items like crystal figurines may have odd shapes or many protruding parts that create enough opportunity for them to break apart. Pack such fragile items in the individual sections of an egg carton. Before placing them, test for height to ensure nothing will break when the lid is closed.
-
Very small delicate items must be packed individually in small storage containers. You can make use of kitchen storage containers for packing them. Line the containers with shredded papers or cotton before placing smaller fragile items into these storage containers.
-
Label your boxes packed with delicate fragile items carefully without fail.
